Vancouver Defenceman Kevin Bieksa Out For Six-To-Eight Weeks After Hand Surgery

Dr Pruzansky | February 6, 2015

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa underwent hand surgery last week and will be out for six-to-eight weeks as a result.

On January 20th, the veteran defenseman was struck by Tampa Bay Lightning’s Victor Hedman’s shot.

Bieksa has struggled for consistency this season, and while he is out, Canucks general manager Jim Benning said “Frankie (Frank Corrado) looks like he’s ready to be a full-time NHL defenceman. Frankie has gotten a lot stronger… He plays with his head up, looks confident and makes a good first pass.”

Bieksa’s injury means the Canucks’ defence has been healthy for less than three games this season; Hamhuis returned from his groin tear only last Thursday after missing two months.
