Miami Heat’s Hassan Whiteside Targeted After Laceration

Miami Heat Hassan Whiteside is used to being targeted by rival players but his return to play with an ongoing injury is causing additional worries.

Last Tuesday Whiteside was back in the game after after medical staff deemed his hand fit to play, even with a severe laceration between his middle and ring finger.

Upon returning to the court, Whiteside immediately noticed San Antonio players targeting the injury.

“It seemed like every time I got the ball, they were going right after it. They definitely put it in the scouting report.”

Coach Erik Spoelstra spoke out about the injury, saying rival players will target injuries, no matter the sport. He just hopes “(Whiteside’s) hand is padded enough that it doesn’t get any worse”.
