Jets’ Fitzpatrick to Undergo Thumb Ligament Surgery

New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s thumb metacarpal phalangeal joint ligament surgery has been moved up to 11/13, because delay generally leads to greater surgery, stiffness, and weakness.
Within a few weeks of injury the torn ligament shortens, necessitating the use of a tendon graft from the forearm to reconstruct the irreparable original ligament. Playing with a splint after surgery becomes an option.
