Clippers J.J. Redick Injures His Hand
Dr Pruzansky | December 12, 2013
Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick broke a bone and tore a ligament in his right hand on 11/30/13 at Sacramento. Apparently his dominant thumb was broken, also tearing the ulnar collateral ligament of the metacarpal phalangeal joint.
He was injured when he hit the floor hard in the second quarter of the game versus the Sacramento Kings. J.J. Redick is expected to miss six to eight weeks according to team doctors. When the phalangeal fracture and ligament injury are low grade, four to five weeks immobilization in a splint promotes healing before physical therapy begins.
More severe injuries are repaired surgically.
