Reigning British Superbike Champion Undergoes Hand Surgery

Reigning British Superbike (BSB) champion Shane Byme has undergone surgery on his broken left hand after being involved in a major crash Tuesday.
The high-side crash occurred during pre-season testing in Almeria, Spain, as the four-time champion was testing the 2015 Kawasaki ZX-10R. After the crash Byme was taken to the nearby hospital, where it was discovered he had broken his left hand and needed surgery.
“I had an operation last night to fix (my hand). One of my knuckles disappeared down into my hand” said Byme.
According to Byme, his hand surgeon said he needed a month to heal up, but Byne said he needed to go to the UK to “jump in a hyperbaric chamber and get the bones lasered.”
