Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Homer Bailey is set to undergo Tommy John surgery on his pitching (right) elbow.
Last Monday Bailey tore a ligament in his right elbow after making only two starts in 2015 due to a delayed return from a separate injury, a tear in his right forearm.
“It’s absolutely crushing to Homer personally, to our ballclub” Reds skipper Bryan Price said. He went on to comment how the team was depending on a healthy Homer Bailey this season and that this injury will influence the club.
Prior to Bailey’s previous injury, he signed a 6-year, $105 million contract with the Reds.
