Reds’ Marlon Byrd Suffers Fractured Hand After Wild Pitch

Cincinnati Reds’ Marlon Byrd suffered a fractured wrist on June 2nd and was immediately placed on the team’s disabled list.
Byrd suffered the injury after being hit by a pitch during the team’s loss against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.
Ivan DeJesus Jr. has been recalled from Triple-A to fill in for Byrd.
The injury could end up costing Byrd millions, because he would be due $8 million next season if he has 550 plate appearances this year.
If Byrd is out of commission for an extended period of time, that option won’t vest.
