LA Clippers Chris Paul Fractures Hand
Chris Paul, LA Clippers point guard, broke his hand in a loss against the Portland Trail Blazers in Round 1 of the 2016 NBA playoffs.
Paul played into the third quarter before being taken out of the game. Further evaluation by team doctors revealed a third metacarpal fracture in the palm of his right hand.
Paul underwent hand surgery and it is doubtful that he will finish the Clippers playoff run, especially considering this injury affected his shooting hand.
The Clippers’ head athletic trainer initially examined his right middle finger and wrist and though they’re not clear exactly how the injury happened, it looked as if Paul bent his wrist awkwardly while defending a layup.
Paul left the arena in a sling and cast. Recovery time for this basketball hand injury is expected to be three to six weeks.
