Heavyweight Champion Suffers Broken Right Hand

Boxing Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has suffered a broken right hand in his win over Bermane Stiverne last Saturday night at the MGM Grand.
Wilder hurt his hand after a hard punch to Stivene’s head in the 4th round, but pushed through the pain in order to win the fight.
Wilder has received his X-rays, and a metacarpal fracture can be seen on his right hand’s ring finger.
Metacarpal fractures are common for boxers and other athletes that create direct trauma to the area via a hard punch.
In 2009, Wilder was also operated on for a hand problem. Thankfully, this injury isn’t likely to change Wilder’s fight schedule, which doesn’t put him back in the ring until this summer.
