Freddie Freeman’s Wrist Injury Ends 234 Game Playing Streak

Braves’ first baseman Freddie Freeman will no longer have the longest active streak of games played in the majors after Thursday.
Freeman suffered a right wrist sprain while batting last Saturday in the team’s 5-3 win against the Mets.
He then aggravated the injury on Wednesday in the team’s game against the Red Sox, and was forced to leave after six innings.
“It takes a lot for me to come out of a game and not play in a game… hopefully (I’ll) be back Friday,” Freeman said.
At 234 consecutive games, Freeman wasn’t drawing close to the all-time record of 2,632 consecutive game streak of Cal Ripken Jr., but that’s a record that may never be broken.
