Devils’ center Stephen Gionta has suffered a broken hand, likely a metacarpal fracture, after being hit by Kris Letang’s shot in last Monday’s game against the the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Devils’ GM/coach Lou Lamoriello said Gionta will need to see a specialist before the length of time he will be out can be determined.
Stephen Gionta has three goals and three assists for the Devils this season, and often goes head-to-head against his brother Brian Gionta, a former Devils star and now a captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
