DeMarco Murray wasn’t able to get the 87 yards he needed to break Emmitt Smith’s Cowboys season rushing record on Sunday, but he impressed his coach and team members regardless. “This day with DeMarco Murray is going to be one that I’ll never forget” said Coach Jason Garrett, after the Cowboys’ win versus the Colts on Sunday.
According to Garrett, Murray’s mentality didn’t waver: “I’m playing, coach. I’m playing”. Murray played with his left hand in a padded glove and a plastic shell on Sunday, to protect his left hand which had eight screws and a metal plate applied to his fourth metacarpal just last Monday. “It’s unbelievable toughness on his part,” Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said. “Just unbelievable courage and toughness and pride. I’ve always prided myself on being tough, but seeing that gains a lot of respect.”
