Astros’ Jed Lowrie Struggles With Everyday Tasks After Surgery

Dr Pruzansky | May 24, 2015

Houston Astros’ shortstop Jed Lowrie came by Minute Maid Park in bandages following a surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb.

There was a red stain on the bandage around his thumb, but thankfully it wasn’t from blood, but from a food stain.

“There’s some things that you just wouldn’t think about. … I really do use my thumb a lot.” said Lowrie “(but) all things considered, surgery went well.”

Lowrie injured his thumb while sliding into home plate on April 27 in the team’s game against the San Diego Padres.

He expects to have his stitches removed soon so he can get back to exercising the rest of his body while his thumb continues to heal.
